to prepare Penelope emotionally for recognizing and welcoming her husband
After Odysseus win the bow contest Eurycleia hurry goes to Penelope and let her know that the stranger that won the contest is actually her husband, this way she can be prepare, after this new she went to meet Odysseus and test her until she is fully convinced that is he.
